Medical consumables and equipment represent a dynamic and growing segment of Iran’s healthcare industry, encompassing a wide range of products such as diagnostic imaging systems, surgical instruments, respiratory support devices, laboratory equipment, medical consumables, and home care devices.

Iran has made significant progress in recent years, relying on the capabilities of knowledge-based companies and domestic engineers to manufacture medium to advanced-level medical equipment. These include ventilators, patient monitors, laser and imaging systems, and various disposable medical products.

Domestic production of medical devices reduces reliance on imports, saves foreign currency, and lowers healthcare costs, while also generating employment in fields such as design, biomedical engineering, assembly, quality control, and after-sales service.

Iran has successfully exported various medical products—including syringes, masks, lab test kits, patient monitors, and respiratory support devices—to neighboring countries, Central Asia, Africa, and parts of Europe. Competitive pricing, acceptable quality, and mass production capacity are key export strengths.

Iran’s competitive advantages include a skilled engineering workforce, low production costs, adequate industrial infrastructure, and valuable experience in localizing technology during sanction periods. Obtaining international certifications (such as CE and ISO), improving product design, and enhancing global marketing strategies can further strengthen Iran’s international competitiveness in the medical device sector.
